Nicholas Sims-Williams, "Some Bactrian Inscriptions on Silver Vessels"

Fig. 1. Tracing of the Bactrian inscription on a silver-gilt plate from Beitan township.

This article contains the edition of six Bactrian inscriptions on silver vessels, most of them previously unpublished. All six include a statement of the weight of the silver, variously expressed in drachms, didrachms, staters, or staters and obols. Several inscriptions also name the owner. One particularly long inscription also contains a date in the Bactrian era, probably equivalent to 265/266 C.E., and a dedication to Manao bago, a god already known from the Kushan coinage.
