This article presents a structural analysis of the Hasanlu bowl (Iran). It examines the formal relationships between iconic elements, tracing a network, and completes the thematic comparative corpus with Central Asian images. This analysis permits us to propose an interpretative hypothesis connecting and contrasting the traditional oriental artistic depiction of an ancient mythological water cycle in the lower register (termed Hurrian) with a more recent and dominating expression in the upper register (Mitanni-Arya).
