Yutaka Yoshida, Viśa’ Śūra’s Corpse Discovered?

In 1984 a mummy of a man of c. fifty years old was unearthed in a village called Buzak located some 18 km southwest of the modern city of Khotan. Based on Chinese and Khotanese inscriptions found on its face cover, the author attempts to identify it with the corpse of a Khotanese king by the name of Viśa’ Śūra (r. 967-977/978), son of Li Shengtian.
