Terracotta figurines from the Samarkand region of Sogdiana dated to
between the 2nd/1st century B.C.E. and the 4th century C.E. are the
only source of visual evidence from Samarkand for this period. The
present study provides a crucial database with which to explore
regional identity in Sogdiana in a broader chronological and geographic
sphere.
