Jiroft? Bowl showing hero mastering bulls. A
probable forgery—note for example the poor execution of the bull’s head.
For several years reports in scholarly and non-scholarly publications
have
claimed that a large number of objects confiscated in various distant
areas
in Iran derive from plundered graves in the region of Jiroft.
This
article demonstrates that there are no records preserved anywhere that
yield
information concerning the time when, how, and by whom the material was
confiscated;
consequently there is no archaeological reason to accept the disparate
finds
as manifestly from one area in Iran, or that all are ancient
artifacts. .pdf
